Information We Collect
When you visit this website, you may choose to share personal information by completing a contact or therapy inquiry form. This may include your name, email address, phone number, and a general sense of what you are seeking support with. You are never required to share personal medical, mental health, or detailed clinical information through this website.
As with most websites, some basic technical information may be collected automatically—such as browser type, device information, or the pages you visit. This helps the website function properly and is not used to identify you personally.
How Your Information Is Used
Information shared through this website is used only to respond to your inquiry, schedule a consultation or discovery call, or communicate with you about services. Every inquiry is reviewed personally, and your information is used solely for professional communication and care coordination.
Your information is never sold, rented, or shared for marketing purposes.
Therapy and Confidentiality
Therapy services provided by Compass Soul Counseling and Wellness are confidential and governed by professional ethics and applicable state and federal law. Anything shared within therapy is protected and handled with care, in keeping with Washington State law and professional standards.
This website is not a secure place to share sensitive clinical or medical information. Please keep initial messages general. More detailed information can be shared once therapy begins, through appropriate and secure methods.
Using This Website
This website is here to share information and help you decide whether we might be a good fit—it is not therapy itself. Visiting the site, reading what's here, or sending a message does not create a counselor-client relationship. That relationship begins only after intake and informed-consent paperwork is completed and we have agreed together to begin working.
The content on this site is general and educational. It isn't a substitute for care from a qualified professional, and it shouldn't be used to diagnose or treat any condition or to make decisions about medication. For concerns specific to you, please speak with your own licensed provider.
I am Dr. Maria Bloomfield, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) credentialed by the Washington State Department of Health (License No. LH61237218), providing services to clients located in Washington State.
In a Crisis
This website and email are not monitored for emergencies. If you are in crisis or worried about your safety or someone else's, call 911, go to your nearest emergency room, or call or text 988 to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. In Clark County, you can also reach the 24-hour crisis line at (360) 696-9560.
Good Faith Estimate
If you are uninsured or not using insurance, you have the right to a Good Faith Estimate of the expected cost of services, as required by the No Surprises Act. This estimate is available before services begin or any time you request it.
If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you have the right to dispute it. You can learn more about your rights under the No Surprises Act at www.cms.gov/nosurprises or by calling 1-800-985-3059.
To request a Good Faith Estimate, please use the contact form on this website.
Payment and Insurance
Compass Soul Counseling and Wellness offers psychotherapy services. Insurance is accepted with the following providers:
- Moda
- First Choice
- Aetna
- Regence
- Blue Cross Blue Shield
- Providence
- Premera / Lifewise
- Pacific Source
HSA and FSA plans are also accepted. Coverage varies by plan, and clients are responsible for understanding their own benefits and any applicable copays, deductibles, or out-of-pocket costs.
You—not your insurance company—are responsible for payment for services. If your insurance does not pay for any reason, you remain responsible for the full cost of the services provided.
Email and Communication
If you join the Compass Soul Counseling and Wellness mailing list, your contact information is used only to share reflections, writing, updates, or resources related to the work. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in those emails.
Email is not intended for urgent or crisis-related matters.
Social Media
To protect your privacy and keep clear professional boundaries, I do not accept friend or contact requests from clients on personal social media accounts. You are welcome to follow the practice's public pages for general reflections and resources, but those pages—and social media in general—are not a secure or appropriate place to share confidential, clinical, or personal information. If you are a client and need to reach me, please use the contact methods we have agreed on.
A Note on Recommended Resources
Now and then I share books or resources I find meaningful. Some of these are affiliate links, which means that if you purchase through them, I may earn a small commission at no additional cost to you. As an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases. I also take part in the Bookshop.org affiliate program. I only mention things I have used or looked into and genuinely value, and these are personal suggestions rather than professional, therapeutic, or financial advice—please use your own judgment before purchasing.
Financial, Tax, and Business Information
I am a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) as well as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, but any writing here about money, saving, business, or the psychology of our relationship to money is general educational and reflective content only. It is not accounting, tax, or financial advice. Reading it does not make me your accountant and does not create a CPA-client, advisory, or counseling relationship, and it should not be relied upon for your particular situation. Any books or resources I mention are ones I personally find meaningful, not recommendations tailored to you. For decisions about your own finances, taxes, or business, please consult your own CPA, tax professional, or financial advisor.

This website may use cookies or basic analytics tools to understand how visitors use the site. These collect anonymous information and do not identify you personally. You can adjust your browser settings to limit or disable cookies if you prefer.

This website may link to outside resources, articles, or recommended reading. Compass Soul Counseling and Wellness is not responsible for the privacy practices of other websites, and I encourage you to review their policies separately.
Your Washington Health Data Rights
If you are a Washington resident, you have additional rights regarding consumer health data under Washington's My Health My Data Act. Those rights and how to exercise them are described in our separate Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy.
Updates to This Policy
This policy may be updated from time to time to reflect changes in services or legal requirements. Any updates will be posted on this page.
Contact
If you have questions about this policy or how your information is handled, please use the contact form on this website. When you first reach out, please keep your message general and avoid sharing sensitive personal or clinical details—there will be a secure way to share that information once services begin.
